THE RITE (2011)
Every movie Anthony Hopkins stars in these days is met with the hope that his character holds us in the same awe as his portrayal of Hannibal Lectur in Silence Of The Lambs.
SOURCE CODE (2011)
It was with excited anticipation that I sat down to watch Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest offering. The trailers had been slick (see below), promising the sort of film that makes the heart race with twists to keep you thinking as you struggle to keep up with the pace of events. So does it live up to [...]

Colter Stevens is a US Army helicopter pilot whose last memory is flying in Afghanistan. When he wakes up on a commuter train he is disorientated but soon realises that somehow he has assumed the identity of another man.

Review
Source Code is definitely worth watching even if you come away with more questions unanswered about the characters and storyline than you would have wanted to. It’s Deja Vu meets Groundhog Day and whilst both of those were enjoyable in their own right, it’s an uncomfortable mix.
The plot unfortunately was so basic that the script writers failed to develop enough intriguing sub plots to keep the movie rolling. Instead, (and this is where Groundhog Day comes in), Colter seemingly repeats his eight minutes on the train several times achieving little more than adding additional time to the length of the film.
Notwithstanding that, the editing and acting keep you engaged enough to empathise with the lead characters and the overall pace of the film leaves you satisfied with the ending that you know is coming.
So it’s a YES, go VUIT……just dont ask too many questions afterwards or compare it to films that were better….
